funny headline confusion

Well, between typing up some makeup work for my leadership group and surfing Yahoo email, I was a little distracted as I was reading the day's headlines. The first two that caught my attention were:
"Chad's rebels fight gov't force in capital" and "Candidates hanging hopes on Super Tuesday".
In my multitasking, distracted frame of mind, I saw the words "hanging" & "chads" and thought/said something along the lines of OH DEAR LORD IN HEAVEN! Can't people punch a simple ballot? Is voting really that difficult?
Those around me in the coffee shop were not appreciative of my alarm about hanging chads, to say the least. But I took a second look at the words and laughed for quite awhile.
