If you can't tell by the title, I went out to CCI today, and I got to work with the keepers again for only the second time since I've started coming out (and that was about five or six months ago.) So it was lots of work in the field kitchen/around the compound for me! I continued to channel my grandma (who was the hardest-working farmwoman ever, for those of you who didn't know) by chopping up dead chickens and by skinning a cow's leg as a treat for Mufasa Lion. (And I must have done it well because he really enjoyed eating that piece of meat. :D Kiara even picked it up after he'd eaten his fill and chomped on the bone for a long while.)
Also, I realized (as I was trying to hurl chickens over a HUGE 14-foot fence) that I need to work on my arm strength. Whatever muscles chicken-throwing involves, I don't quite have enough of them yet. :) Thus, the tigers Buffy, Spike, and Shelby were very upset with me because it seemed like I was just toying with them -- it would take me three or four tries to successfully get a chicken over the fence, and before that, the birds would just bounce off the very top of the fence before landing at my feet again. Willow and Adeena (lionesses) were also very unhappy with my chicken-throwing skills. In the end, though, everyone got fed and only a couple of cats hogged more than one chicken to themselves. So it was a successful, but interesting day.
Whew. I'm pretty tired out, though. Will be heading to bed very soon!
