report on my date night!
May. 23rd, 2008 01:13 amFigured I'd grab everybody with the title line. :) As stated, tonight was my big date with my handsome stranger Jameson, or, as my mom fondly calls him, the "mall stalker". Hilarious.
Anyway, he and I met up at Ruby Tuesday for dinner (for those of you interested, he had broccoli-cheese soup & a salad, while I had grilled chicken), then hung out at a local coffee shop, debating whether or not to see a movie. We ended up going to a late showing of Indiana Jones (which wasn't AS bad as I thought, but is still nowhere close to the cinematic glory of the trilogy).
I was pretty careful about the whole encounter, generally. We drove separate cars, never went out of the public eye -- but I didn't have to worry. I didn't even have to pull out my sharp object (a miniature box-cutting knife.)
So, (the pros of the date), everything was very chill. He tried very hard to make sure I wasn't bored or hungry or whatever. Also, to his credit, there was no "yawn and reach" attempt during the movie, and no attempt at a sketchy post-date kiss. (That kind of stuff doesn't fly on the first date, for me, so I was glad it was not mentioned.)
Cons of the date....we still just talked about his band/bandmates for most of the time. Which is fine, except that soon I'm going to get bored with that topic.
Overall, it was a good time -- not great, not awful, but good. I hope we get to go out again, if for no reason other than it will be less awkward a second time through.
